Under Croatian law, an informal agreement between buyer and seller is sufficient for the purchase of a property.However, in order that the property can be registered in the land register, the contract must be attested by a notary. Due to a somewhat relaxed attitude to the land register in Croatia, it can often be the case that the seller does not match the actual entry in the land register.
